Donating Your Electronics: What Does Power up the Planet Accept?

By Heather Gunn

If you have any old, unwanted, or broken electronics lying around your home or work, and live in or around Edmonton, AB, we want to hear from you!

Our organization takes old or unwanted electronics from individuals and businesses, refurbishes them, and then we donate them to charities and other non-profits in our community.

But, you might not know what kind of electronics we accept, so we’ve laid it out for you!

Remember that anything we can’t refurbish is properly and locally recycled, so if your electronics are broken or damaged beyond repair, we can still take them off of your hands.

Here’s what we accept:

Phones and Tablets

We accept cell phones and tablets of most makes and models, including smart phones, Blackberries, flip phones, and so on. We also take landlines and conference/office phones. All data still remaining on cell phones and tablets is kept completely secure; We have a process for destroying hard drives and other memory that ensures that no one can access your data.

Computers and Computer Accessories

Desktop computers are always in high demand from those that we donate to, so we happily accept computer monitors and towers (newer models are preferred, but any make, model and year is welcome). We also accept laptops, keyboards, mice, and computer cables.

We accept all televisions, however flat screens are preferred as they are more in demand for those we donate to. As always, anything we can’t refurbish is properly recycled, so older TV’s are fine to bring in. If you have one of the large televisions that stand on the ground, please contact us before donating so we can make sure it’s something viable for us to take.

Printers of all makes and models are accepted. If you want to donate a large, stand-up office printer, please contact us beforehand to arrange drop off details.

Misc. Items

We also accept a variety of miscellaneous electronic items, such as remotes, video game consoles, cables/cords, servers, chargers for computers & phones, and more.

If you have an item that you aren’t sure about donating, please contact us and we will let you know if it’s accepted or not. We can be contacted via email at [email protected] or on social media @pupyeg (Instagram and Twitter).
